FIRST SUNDAYS, December 5th, 2010: an afternoon of chamber music and art at the Laguna College of Art & Design. Concert is, 3:00 to 4:30 pm and the Art Gallery opens at 2:00 pm.

Alexander Sack is a fine arts guitarist whose awards include, two time winner of the Randy Rhoads Memorial Award, and twice recipient of the Andres Segovia Award for classical guitar
performance. He has utilized the electric guitar as a solo instrument, and refined it for music from classical to blues,and contemporary compositions.

First Sundays is a collaboration with Laguna College of Art & Design and is presented on the First Sunday of each month, October-May (except January). The concert is in Studio 6 at the Art College, 2222 Laguna Canyon Rd., a few miles from main beach. There is ample and complimentary parking.
Funding is provided by the lodging establishments and City of Laguna Beach and donations from the audience.

Cuerdas del Mar

Both having received master degrees in music performance from San Diego State University, they continue to build on their 15 year foundation of musical training and performance experience. Their unique and inspiring sound is sought after by such businesses as the Rancho Bernardo Inn, San Diego County Library System and the Division of Undergraduate Studies for San Diego State to bring a classical flair to brunches, luncheons or international soirees.

Cuerdos del Mar performs a wide variety of music genres including: classical, Irish, folk, gypsy, Jazz and are always expanding their repertoire as well as including requests. Whether it is a wedding on the beach or a corporate dinner Cuerdos del Mar provides a refined yet relaxed backdrop to any event.

Leah Panos

Harpist Leah Panos earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance at San Diego State University where she received the Outstanding Graduate Award in 2006, and continues to serve as an Artist-in-Residence at SDSU.

Leah is an active musician in the San Diego area, performing regularly at recitals, weddings, receptions, hotels, educational outreach programs, and formal events, as well as teaching harp students. She has performed and toured with university and community orchestras, church orchestras, chamber ensembles, local theater productions, and wind ensembles throughout Southern California.

In addition to guest performances with various performing groups in San Diego, Leah appeared with her harp on television in a 2002 KPBS Christmas special. As of 2008, Leah has been seen performing in musical theater productions with Lamb’s Players Theater in Coronado, and was a featured soloist with the U.S. Marine Band in San Diego. Her solo repertoire is vast, with special emphasis in the Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century periods, and has composed several harp arrangements of pop and film music.

JAZZ WEDNESDAYS: Club Django, considered Southern California’s foremost proponent of the music of Django Reinhardt, consists of Joe Jewell, Don King, Roger Shew and Daniel Blank who also incorporate their other styles such as blues, jump, modern jazz and classical music.

The concert is 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the beautiful outdoor Rose Garden of the Hotel Laguna, 425 So. Coast Hwy., Laguna Beach. Cover charge is $10 and an outstanding selection of drinks and food is available for purchase.
